Tom and Raquels Update 3 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 1
Ok as I stated before… Here is my update.

Raquel and I are working on 3 years of marriage and I would not change a thing. Her status is permanent resident, the first one or 2 year. This coming December we will be filling for the 10 year, at least I thinks it’s a ten year. In the last 2 years she has done wonderfully here in the US. She has started back to school and is working on becoming a LPN. She also has decided to work part time at a day care center. She is really a hard worker. We have met some other couples from the PI and she has become very close to some. I find it very funny to listen to them chat in their home language. But all in all things are great. For everyone still working on getting your loved ones here…. Keep up the fight; it will be more than you have hoped for.

Tom

Congratulations for both of you Tom and Raquel.

Tom. did you mean that even a Fiipina was married to a US Citizen. she is not yet en_title_d to live permanently automatically after the marriage in the US without passing a 2 year probation of a permanent resident? Then the need to apply again for 10 years ?

About the Filipinos who were staying there.. don't they have a hard time coping with the changes of weather.. from 4 seasons in the US?

And the food.. are they still adapting the Filipno way of preparing meals and for all you know, rice?

Thats pretty good. I am hoping that if everything goes right, my wife will be here around April. My sister's boss here is from Cebu, so she has been trying to teach me some bisayan. Man, that is hard, but I have learned a few things and phrases. I cant wait until my wife and step son arrive here, it has been a long process for us.

Hi Mark!

Visayan language varies.. they are lots of dialects in the Visayan region like Cebu. Samar. Ilo_Ilo etc.

The whole Philippines is about 187 dialects spoken ..
I speak Tagalog ( national language Of Filipinos) Pampango ( derived from Japanese- Spanish- Malay )

The last time I knew you are living in California waiting for your wife and step-son.
Can you describe us California? What is the difference of California to other states in the US ?

Actually, I live in Florida. In the summer, the weather in Sw Florida is not much differant that the Philippines, hot humid days and warm humid nights. Winter time is not so bad, temps usually in the low 70's during the day and upper 50's to lower 60's at night. We get a few cold days thrown in, but it does not usually last long. I live right on the Gulf of Mexico, so we have some beaches here and good seafood if yo know where to go. My town is not very big, I think about 180,000 people total live in my county. It's not too bad, but the economy is a bit bad right now.

Ummmm , I can visualize Florida now. good weather. good sea food. nice beach. not much population.. that means less pollution Mark.
When I go to America I am sure to visit you and Joy.
I don't think I can stay in a cold weather not unless I will have my woolen blanket all the way.

One information I read about getting more closer to your wife's heart isssssssss.. buy her a " rice cooker". I am sure she will love this idea.

The way I understand it, And I could be wrong. Is that being married to a US citizen just allows them to apply for the process. It does not mean they will be allowed to come or even stay. Now I would think that most do but its not for sure. Once here they have to get the permanent resident, Green card with restriction for 2 years. Then the permanent resident, without restrictions for 10 years. Once you have the 10 year one, you then start working on the paperwork for Citizenship.

Thank you Turk.
So acquiring a US citizenship is not that easy.

Another question Turk.
Once issued a 2 years PR with 2 years restriction. are you allowed to work? If allowed. are you given the same benefits as an employee. SSS. insurance. and so forth.

BTW" I think this has to go to the IMMIGRATION SECTION

Aplle, if you are able to visit, you would more than welcome to come here. My town is not too big but not so small that there is nothing here. We have a decent balance of things, and if we want to do something differant, Disney and the other attractions are just a couple of hurs driving time away. The only problem is that they are so expensive.

I was suppose to be there early this year ( January) but I have some priorities to look at.

Disneyland, WOW! Rides are expensive? What can we see at Disneyland? We have " Enchanted Kingdon" here at Santa Rosa , Laguna but Disneyland is understandably super! I will start to save now Mark!

Disney is outrageous. They charge about $80.00 just to get in for one person. The food is seriously overpriced and there are long lines. The best time to go is when the kids are still in school and the weather is cooler. I have not been there in over 20 years, so I would guess that the place has changed quite a bit. I am pretty sure that I will end up going there this year sometime after my wife arrives here.

Yes, the PR is the green card which allows you to work. It took us a year from when she first got here to get the card. If you mean social security by "SSS" We applied for it a soon as we were married. We where married here in the states so you have 90 days to get married then you apply for Social security. Hmmmmmm Insurance? I'm not should what you mean. If you mean health insurance, As soon as we where married I put her on my health insurance at work.

Here it is.

Hello every one. I'm still around and do check the forums. Just been pretty busy the last few months. A little update is that Raquel now has her 10 year green card, or Permanent Residence. She has also graduated with her LPN degree and was hired at the local hospital. As for me, work has been killing me. I'm also getting ready to start my own private investigation company. I just received my PI license in the mail just the other day. Now my working on all the city business license stuff. Oh joy.....

Private investigation company?

What is a private investigation company?

Forgive my curiosity but it is interesting.

Sorry its taken me so long to get back. But A private Investigator is a person that is paid to find things out. Like if you want some one followed or maybe a background check on some one. Oh on little up date. Raquel and I are expecting a little girl in Sept.

I had a friend whose husband wanted to be followed by a private investigator. we found the investigator in the listing on the yellow page here. they asked for 3,500 php per day( 5 days) with pictures taken everyday proofs of daily routine.

That must be a dangerous task.
